Sports Chiropractic in Bellevue, NE: Get Back to Doing What You Love
Whether you are a competitive athlete, weekend warrior, runner, golfer, weightlifter, or simply enjoy staying active, pain and injuries can keep you from doing the things you love.
At Behm Muscle & Joint Clinic in Bellevue, NE, sports chiropractic combines chiropractic care, soft tissue therapy, movement assessment, and rehabilitation to help athletes and active individuals recover from injuries, improve movement, and get back to activity.
What Is Sports Chiropractic?

Sports chiropractic is focused on the evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention of injuries affecting athletes and active individuals. Common conditions treated may include:
- Low back and neck pain
- Shoulder injuries
- Hip and knee pain
- Muscle strains
- Tendon injuries
- Ankle sprains
- Plantar fasciitis
- Overuse injuries
- Sports-related joint pain
You don't have to be a professional athlete to benefit from sports chiropractic. Recreational athletes and active adults place many of the same physical demands on their bodies as competitive athletes.
More Than Just an Adjustment

Sports chiropractic is about more than treating the area that hurts. For example, knee pain may be influenced by limitations in hip or ankle mobility. Shoulder pain may be related to restrictions involving the thoracic spine, shoulder blade, or surrounding tissues. This is why we evaluate how the body moves as a whole.
Treatment at Behm Muscle & Joint Clinic may include:
- Chiropractic adjustments and joint mobilization
- Active Release Techniques®
- Dry needling
- Graston Technique®
- Mobility exercises
- Corrective exercise
- Strength and stabilization exercises
- Sport-specific rehabilitation
The goal is to address the factors contributing to your symptoms while helping you restore movement and build the capacity needed for your sport or activity.
The Importance of Rehabilitation

Getting out of pain is only part of the process. Rehabilitation helps restore strength, mobility, stability, coordination, and the ability to tolerate the demands of your sport. Your program may include exercises designed to improve:
Mobility: Restore appropriate movement where restrictions are identified.
Strength: Build the capacity needed for sports, exercise, work, and everyday activities.
Stability: Improve your ability to control your joints while producing and absorbing force.
Movement: Address inefficient movement patterns that may contribute to injury or decreased performance.
What Is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP®)?
When choosing a sports chiropractor, additional education and training in sports medicine can be an important consideration.
A Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP®) is a Doctor of Chiropractic who has completed additional postgraduate education focused on sports medicine and athletic injuries through the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians™.
Dr. Adam Behm is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP®) and the owner of Behm Muscle & Joint Clinic. His background includes a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland University-Kansas City, and additional training in Dry Needling, Active Release Techniques®, movement assessment, and other soft tissue treatment. This combination allows for a comprehensive approach to sports injuries rather than relying on a single treatment technique.

Sports chiropractic isn't just for professional or elite athletes, it's for athletes of all levels. Whether you're trying to return to competition, get back to the gym, or simply exercising without pain, care can be tailored to your goals, activity level and sport.
At Behm Muscle & Joint Clinic, we work with:
- Youth athletes
- High school and college athletes
- Runners
- Golfers and disc golfers
- Weightlifters
- Recreational athletes
- Active adults
A Movement-Based Approach to Sports Injury Treatment
At Behm Muscle & Joint Clinic, our philosophy is centered around helping people move better, feel better, and live better. Our sports chiropractic approach combines three important components:
- Reduce symptoms: Treatment may include chiropractic adjustments, joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy, Active Release Techniques®, dry needling, or other appropriate manual therapies.
- Restore movement: Mobility, flexibility, and movement restrictions are addressed based on the findings from your examination.
- Build capacity: Corrective exercises, strengthening, stabilization, and progressive rehabilitation help prepare your body to handle the demands of your sport or daily activities.
This combination allows treatment to move beyond short-term symptom relief and toward improving how your body functions.
